The Birth of Barano Atelier
Barano Atelier was born from a deep passion for making something from my all too vivid imagination. In 2014, I first fell in love with resin and clay jewelry making as a student. What started as a hobby quickly turned into an obsession, and I started selling a few pieces of mine here and there.
In 2015, I started working at a sewing-related company, where I developed a deep interest in fabric arts. Sewing soon became my second biggest passion, allowing me to experiment with textures and patterns that are not possible to achieve with just jewellery.
My love for fiction, such as games and anime, is both a blessing and a curse. All my life my hobbies were ridiculed or lead to bullying. So my goal is to make things that are out of the ordinary, somehow reminiscent of an item from a game, with a little hint of geek and nerd, but still usable in everyday life.
Unfortunately, I have crippling ADHD, so you might feel that everything here is all over the place (and it probably is, but it makes sense in my head!), but I hope that I can somehow convey some feeling of wonder and uniqueness through everything I present here.

Bara… what? What is that?
You might be wondering how I came up with the name “Barano Atelier” and why. Well, it turns out that I actually didn’t! It was my husband. He always loved the word “atelier”, since it sounds very artsy and also is being used in many works of fiction. Many small businesses like to use this word. But why “Barano”? It is a wordplay – it is part of my last name, but can also mean “rose field” in Japanese. As my husband and I have both a deep connection to Japan (we actually met there!) and the Japanese language, we always had the idea to include it somewhere in some way.
